The Oregon Ducks football team released their depth chart on Friday afternoon and transfer quarterback Vernon Adams was listed as a starter. Adams was competing with junior Jeff Lockie for the starting job after successfully transferring to Oregon just two weeks ago. His first start as a Duck will be against Eastern Washington, the school where he starred for the last four years.
Vernon Adams listed as starting QB on Oregon’s depth chart

Adams has been one of the most dynamic players in the country over the past three seasons. He is a two-time runner-up for the Walter Payton Award and has a 28-6 record as a starter. In 2014, Adams threw for 3,483 yards and 35 touchdowns with the Eagles.
Oregon wrapped up preseason camp with a scrimmage on Thursday. Adams led the team with two touchdown passes and that was apparently all head coach Mark Helfrich needed to see to make his decision.
Adams is a perfect fit for the Oregon offense. He already has familiarity with the system and schemes the Ducks use and he displays many of the same traits as 2014 Heisman Trophy Winner Marcus Mariota. While he’s much shorter than Mariota at just 6-feet tall, Adams is extremely quick and excels at throwing on the run.
The Ducks open their 2015 season on September 5th at Autzen Stadium against Eastern Washington.
