TV Schedule: Friday, Sept. 4, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN
Stadium: Gerald J. Ford Stadium
Line: Baylor (-36)
Biggest understatement of the day: The SMU Mustangs are underdogs against the Baylor Bears (would you look at that line).
QB Bryce Petty is no longer making the passes for the Bears, but Baylor enters the season by being ranked in the top five regardless. Taking over for Petty will be Seth Russell, who did work last season … when he actually played. After all, Russell racked up 804 passing yards and eight touchdowns in 2014. Russell even had a performance where he went off for 438 yards and five TDs.
Meanwhile, the Mustangs are coming off a 1-11 season and will likely struggle to not only stop Baylor, but put up points as well. Simply put, the Bears should contend for the College Football Playoff, and SMU is far off the map.

Baylor had to schedule someone to start the season, and unfortunately said someone is the Mustangs. Even more unfortunate is the fact that SMU has to play the TCU Horned Frogs in its third game of 2015.
To make a long story short, Baylor beat SMU by the score of 45-0 last year … and this year likely won’t be that much different. Baylor may be playing on the road, but it will win. BIG.
PREDICTION: Bears 56, Mustangs 10
