Entering the week, the showdown between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs was supposed to be everything. By everything, I mean it was supposed to be the game of the week … and quite possibly one of the biggest games of the year.
And then the battle started. To put it very mildly, Alabama won with ease. To put it even more mildly, Georgia blew away a perfect opportunity to take over the SEC.

Two things became very clear after this contest: (1) The Crimson Tide are still very much alive when it comes to the College Football Playoff. (2) The Bulldogs are not playoff contenders.
Even with Nick Chubb going off for another 100-yard game, Georgia was still blown out (38-10).
One big takeaway from this game: The SEC West is better than the SEC East — and it isn’t even close.
Georgia can still of course make the SEC championship game, but it would likely go up against the Ole Miss Rebels, LSU Tigers, Alabama or another dominant SEC West team, which would likely result in another loss.

The Bulldogs had home-field advantage, one of the best players in the nation (Chubb) and they actually were the favorites, yet they were still a no-show against the Crimson Tide.
Nick Saban, welcome back to the playoff picture.
