TV Schedule: Saturday, Oct. 10, 12:00 p.m. ET, ESPNU
Stadium: Kinnick Stadium
Line: Iowa (-11)
This matchup doesn’t necessarily have College Football Playoff implications written all over it, but it will certainly help decide who wins the Big Ten West. And who knows, if the Iowa Hawkeyes come out on top, maybe they will enter the CFP picture.
The Illinois Fighting Illini‘s only loss, which came in blowout fashion, was against the North Carolina Tar Heels. Since that 48-14 beatdown, Illinois has won two games in a row. One of those victories was against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Although Nebraska is having a down year, the victory came against a Big Ten opponent regardless.

Meanwhile, Iowa is coming off its best win of the season. Said win was against the Wisconsin Badgers … on the road. Needless to say, if the Hawkeyes can knock off one of the best teams the Big Ten has to offer (on the road), it can certainly knock off Illinois at home.
If Iowa’s win against Wisconsin last week doesn’t get the Big Ten’s attention, then I don’t know what will. The Hawkeyes only allowed six points to a talented Badgers team.
Iowa’s momentum will continue to grow, which means one simple thing: The rest of the conference better watch out.
PREDICTION: Fighting Illini 7, Hawkeyes 24
