The Georgia Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1) had a chance to make their mark in the SEC last week against the Alabama Crimson Tide (4-1, 1-1). When Ole Miss (4-1, 2-1) beat Alabama the week before we all took notice. Well, Ole Miss is obviously legit. I mean, they just beat Alabama.
Georgia just blew their opportunity to be that team. They are always good; they’re just never the best. They are never with the elites of the SEC. After that blowout on Saturday at home, 38-10, they are a dejected team. The Bulldogs really lucked out with their next opponent, as tailback and Heisman Candidate Nick Chubb should run wild on a defense that allows 171.6 rushing yards per game.
The Tennessee Volunteers (2-3, 0-2) seek out bad coaches. I mean, they have to, right? Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley and now Butch Jones. Kiffin bolted after one season to USC, ironically after pitching to the program that he was going to make them the USC of the East Coast. Dooley came from Louisiana Tech with a career record of under .500. His last game at UT ended in a loss to rival Vanderbilt, 41-18. He finished with a record of 15-21 and a conference record of 4-19. Jones has made quite the name for himself as a pitiful clock manager over the last few weeks. The Vols have blown three leads of 13 points or more.
Saturday will be a must-win game for both teams. The Vols can’t afford to slip to two games under .500, and Georgia doesn’t want to lose in the conference — especially not when they still have Florida on the schedule. This game will not be as close as people think.
Prediction: Georgia 41, Tennessee 24
