Last week, there was a report that the Maryland Terrapins had already decided that head coach Randy Edsall wouldn’t be returning for the 2016 season. Hoping for an upset against Ohio State on Saturday to change athletic director Kevin Anderson‘s mind, the Terrapins were instead defeated 49-28 at the hands of the Buckeyes and rumors began swirling immediately after the game that Edsall wouldn’t make it through the weekend.
At his press conference following the game, Edsall was asked about his thoughts on his job security and he stormed off the stage.
On Sunday, the rumors became reality when it was announced that Edsall had been fired after four and a half years at his “dream job.”

The Terrapins were only 22-34 during Edsall’s tenure, including 2-4 this season. With the move to the Big 10 and plenty of money flowing in from Under Armour, the university expected to see more positive results this season. After failing to do so, Edsall will now be scouring the unemployment line for another job.
