Freshman UCLA Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen is having quite the year, completing 61.5 percent of his passes, while tossing 15 touchdowns against seven interceptions for 1,958 yards. His decision making on the field is clearly sound. However, the decision to put a hot tub in his dorm room was not the best. The decision to put it all over social media was even dumber.
When you’re a quarterback at a power-five conference school, there’s no need to bring extra attention to yourself; it just adds to the pressure. Rosen seems like a good kid by all accounts, but putting pictures of his hot tub all over social media is taking the focus away from football, which is something he doesn’t want to happen.
The kid should have some fun, especially since UCLA already played this week and pounded the California Golden Bears 40-24, but again, being so public about it wasn’t a great idea. If people at UCLA saw this picture, which they did because it’s going viral, he probably won’t even have it for very long.
Think about the luxury of being a Pac-12 quarterback, though. You smash one of your biggest rivals on Thursday, and then turn around and have a hot tub installed in your dorm room by the weekend. He also has a beautiful girl on his arm in the hot tub. It looks like he’s living the life right now.
If he keeps his focus on football and keeps progressing on the field, Rosen could be playing on Sundays in a couple years. Once that happens, he can put a hot tub wherever he wants and not have to worry about people going crazy about it.
