TV Schedule: Saturday, Nov. 14, 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS

Stadium: Davis Wade Stadium

Line: Alabama (-8)

Last season, this matchup basically had everything on the line. The Mississippi State Bulldogs entered with the No. 1 ranking in the country (and were undefeated), while the one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide entered with the No. 5 ranking. Alabama would end up winning that game by five points.

This year, the Bulldogs enter with two losses and are ranked No. 20. Alabama, once again, enters with one loss and is ranked No. 4.

Two things that haven’t changed for this matchup: (1) Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott is still very dangerous. (2) This SEC showdown has a lot on the line.

With a victory against the Crimson Tide, the Bulldogs can turn the SEC West upside down. With a loss, Alabama will move one game closer to clinching the SEC West and a battle with the Florida Gators in the conference title game.

The Bulldogs have two advantages in this game: The best quarterback on the field and good old-fashioned home-field advantage.

However, the Crimson Tide have a clear shot at the College Football Playoff, they are coming off of a major win against the LSU Tigers (30-16), they made running back Leonard Fournette a non-factor and Derrick Henry is coming off of a masterful performance (210 rushing yards, three TDs).

The Crimson Tide have rattled off six wins in a row. Mississippi State is on its own four-game winning streak.

Needless to say, this is a huge game. In huge games, Nick Saban-coached teams tend to thrive, which is exactly what I am expecting in this major test for the Crimson Tide.

PREDICTION: Crimson Tide 24, Bulldogs 17
