TV Schedule: Saturday, Dec. 5, 3:00 p.m. ET, CBS
Stadium: Georgia Dome
Line: Alabama (-17.5)
The SEC championship would have basically been a play-in game for the College Football Playoff if one simple thing would have happened last weekend. That simple thing: If the Florida Gators would have won. Instead, they were handed their second loss of 2015 against the Florida State Seminoles (yeah, rivalry games are tough).
Meanwhile, the Alabama Crimson Tide enter this title game with everything on the line. Also, many people — including myself — might even think they are the best team in the sport. No, they are not undefeated like the Iowa Hawkeyes and Clemson Tigers, but they have had one heck of a road so far (aka a tough schedule). Bama also has Derrick Henry, who will surely give the Gators fits all day on Saturday, and he could end up winning the Heisman as a result.
Who knows how the season would have gone for Florida if QB Will Grier didn’t go down to suspension, but they have overachieved regardless. Fans should be very excited for what the future holds for this program … not so much about what is about to go down in this contest.

A couple of fun facts entering the SEC championship game: Florida beat the Ole Miss Rebels by the score of 38-10. That same Ole Miss team beat the Crimson Tide (on the road). The Gators went down to the LSU Tigers, but Alabama handled the same Tigers with ease (won 30-16). Football — well, sports in general — can be a little weird sometimes.
In terms of this clash, it’s hard to not go with the Crimson Tide. They have arguably the best player in college football. Not to mention, that player, Derrick Henry, had three 200-yard rushing games in November — which is why he is going to win the Heisman.
An upset by Florida would surely give the College Football Playoff committee nightmares, but I just don’t see it playing out like that.
PREDICTION: Gators 17, Crimson Tide 35
