Florida Football Will Continue To Have Offensive Issues In 2016

Next year may be an interesting season for the Florida Gators with a sophomore coach at the helm and their most talented QB, Will Grier, gone for good. Grier announced that he will not be continuing his collegiate career at Florida. Kelvin Taylor, Demarcus Robinson,and Alex McAlister also have announced their intentions to leave the team and declare for the NFL. Jim McElwain, head coach for the Gators, has done more this season than anyone expected. He has also amassed a great recruiting class. The question is, can the Gators make a showing in 2016?

The team just signed four-star recruit Feleipe Franks to their roster. Will the talented QB be enough to cure the Gators’ offensive woes? The Gators’ 2016 recruiting class has 24 commits thus far, and the group is ranked eighth nationally. The SEC East had a rough season this year, but Tennessee will be a team to watch in 2016 and Georgia should have playmaker Nick Chubb back on their roster. Florida will need to recruit brilliantly to compete.

The Gators will need to get something going on offense if they hope to compete in the 2016 season. Florida’s depth chart is severely lacking in the WR position, and Robinson’s defection won’t help matters. If the Gators can get the ball to Antonio Callaway consistently they will have a future star in the young receiver. In addition, Florida must compete with Florida State for recruits. Since the ‘Noles won the in-state rivalry game they might look more attractive to young players looking to commit

If the Gators were in another conference they might have a better chance, but the SEC has a punishing schedule and Florida is in the thick of it. I predict a shaky start for the Gators in 2016 if they cannot get a more cohesive offensive unit assembled.
