TV Schedule: Thursday, Dec. 31, 12:00 p.m. ET, ESPN
Stadium: Georgia Dome
Line: Florida State (-7)
The Florida State Seminoles enter the Peach Bowl as the favorites — as they should be. They will take on the Houston Cougars out of the AAC.
Florida State will do battle with a 10-2 record and a top 10 ranking, while Houston enters this contest with a 12-1 record and a top 25 ranking.
Not only do the Seminoles reside in the ACC, which is a top conference in college football, but it handed the Florida Gators a 27-2 loss in their last game. They are also riding a three-game winning streak. Also, just in case you needed more reason to believe in FSU, Dalvin Cook plays for the Seminoles.
What would sports be if the favorite always won, though? Answer: Predictable and not as fun.
Here’s why fans should believe in the Cougars: Their only loss came by three points on the road, and they are on a two-game winning streak, meaning they have rebounded since their lone loss. Not to mention, those two games were played against ranked opponents. In total, Houston has defeated three ranked foes on the year (at the time, of course).
Houston QB Greg Ward Jr. will also take the stage, and he is a stat machine. Here’s the proof: He recorded 2,590 passing yards, 1,041 rushing yards and 35 total TDs in 2015.
Both teams can do damage on both sides of the ball, which makes this contest one of the more intriguing games during bowl season.
If Cook takes over this game — which would not be a surprise at all — Florida State will prove mostly everyone right by winning. Let’s spice things up a bit with the upset, though.
PREDICTION: Houston 27, Florida State 24
