Rashan Gary is the unanimous No. 1 recruit in the 2016 class, but he had yet to commit to a school before National Signing Day 2016. All the speculation surrounding his decision was that he had narrowed his choices to Michigan and Clemson, but he wasn’t sure which school he would pick. The anticipation came to an end when Gary put on a Michigan cap live on ESPN on Wednesday and announced that he would play for the Wolverines.
Adding Gary is huge for head coach Jim Harbaugh to put an exclamation point on a top-five class nationally and the second-best class in the Big Ten. Although viewed by some as quirky, his methods are obviously working, as he’s returned the Wolverines to prominence within one season and could be ready to make the team national title contenders sooner rather than later.
Gary played football for Paramus Catholic in New Jersey and was an absolute monster on the field. Aside from his natural abilities, Gary has a motor that won’t quit and a work ethic that is second to none. He also understands that being a good student is just as important as performing on the football field, which shows great maturity at such a young age.
Keep your eye out for Gary, Harbaugh and Michigan for years to come, as they’ve officially returned to national powerhouse status.
