NCAA Allows In-Helmet Communication & Introduces Two-Minute Warning For 2024 Season
The NCAA revealed a reorganization in college football on Friday. This decision was made to refresh the game and prevent a future sign-stealing disaster.
The amendment would allow in-helmet communication schemes to enable the head coach to reach out to a limited number of the designated players, among other things.
Like the NFL, the quarterback and the defensive player, identified by a small green-colored point on protective headgear, can get play call directions from the coaching unit. This is until the play clock reaches fifteen seconds.
This modified law would make sideline signal disclosure redundant and oppose actions like the one employed by Michigan’s Connor Stallions. Using video in-game examination on the sidelines is another example of incorporating new technology. In addition, a two-minute signal will alert about the end of each half.
