In the first quarter Romeo Crennel used some blitz schemes to confuse Tom Brady.  Tyler Palko looked sharp early going 6 for 7 in the first quarter.  Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Romeo Crennell continued to play Tom Brady like a fiddle in the 2nd quarter before Derrick Johnson failed to execute his coverage assignment.  After the way the Chiefs played in the first quarter I got the feeling that I may end up being wrong about my Patriots 35 to 7 prediction prior to Monday Night’s contest.

The Brady to Gronkowski touchdown connection was exactly what New England needed to alter the outcome of the game.  The touchdown provided a spark of confidence to the Patriots and put all of the pressure on Chiefs backup Tyler Palko.  Gronkowski delivered a 2nd receiving touchdown later in the 3rd quarter.

Palko responded by throwing 3 interceptions as the game progressed.  New England’s offensive line blocked well in the 2nd half while managing to create even more momentum with turnovers.  Palko threw bad passes twice in the first half while getting sacked 3 times, and hurried on 7 occasions.

One other unique highlight that caught my attention was the punt return where Julian Edelman executed a super speedy punt return.

Looking at the game there were moments where Kansas City’s defense gave the Patriots offense fits in the first half.  New England played like a completely different team in the 2nd half.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady went 15 for 27 with 234 passing yards 2 passing touchdowns, and no interceptions.  The bottom line is New England is nearly impossible to defeat when Brady avoids picks.

Ben Jarvis Green Ellis got 20 carries while Shane Vereen got a rushing touchdown.

While Kansas’s offense didn’t click much except for Bowe, the run blocking did pose a threat.  Thomas Jones, Dexter McCluster, and Jackie Battle were splitting reps as each back had 8 carries with at least 30 yards on the ground.  The Chiefs managed to inflict some damage running the football even though no particular running back stood out.
