Wide Receiver Marques Colston Not Returning To The New Orleans Saints
In a tweet by Evan Silva (@evansilva) he tweets ESPN’s, Adam Schefter’s take on wide receiver Marques Colston. ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Marques Colston: “Somebody that looks like he’ll be moving on from N.O. … Colston looks like he will not return.”

Like many suspected, Colston is likely done in New Orleans. While the Saints will be losing a consistent 1,000 plus yard receiver, I think they will be fine letting him go. Furthermore, Colston’s departure makes the Saints free agency situation a lot easier to manage. The Saints have already franchise tagged quarterback Drew Brees and the next step in free agency would be to try and resign Colston or guard Carl Nicks. It was thought by many that the Saints would only be able to retain either Colston or Nicks. With Colston’s likely departure it makes things a lot easier and the Saints can now focus their attention on locking up Nicks.
It is unfortunate that the Saints will be losing their top receiver but Saints fans should not be too concerned. Robert Meacham and Devery Henderson will likely be the top 2 wide receivers for the Saints and the Saints had recently resigned wide receiver Adrian Arrington. Furthermore, the Saints still have breakout tight end, Jimmy Graham, and he will likely be Brees’s primary target anyway. The Saints are losing a big piece in their receiving corps but not enough to rattle their great offense.
