New Orleans Saints Sign Wide Receiver Marques Clark; Waive Wide Receiver Kevin Hardy
With training camp set to start tomorrow the New Orleans Saints have made some final roster moves to fill out their 90-man roster. The Saints announced that they have signed wide receiver Marques Clark. Also, the Saints have waived another wide receiver, Kevin Hardy. Clark will join an already loaded wide receiver corps and will likely just be a part of the training camp roster. Clark, like recently signed tight end Derek Schouman, will probably be a part of the practice squad once the Saints solidify their regular season roster.
Clark is a 6’1″ 175 pound wide receiver who played two years at Henderson State University back in 2005-2006. During his collegiate career Clark played in 22 games and accumulated 1,456 yards on 91 receptions with 11 touchdowns. Clark had decent collegiate numbers during his time at Henderson State and will provide another receiver for Drew Brees and the other quarterbacks to throw to during training camp.
I really do not think there is any way for Clark to make the 53-man roster given that the Saints already have a “Marques” on the roster. That of course would be Marques Colston, the Saints’ number one wide receiver.
Despite only being on the training camp roster this could be a good opportunity for Clark. If Clark has a good training camp he could showcase his talent and could possibly make another team besides the Saints. Clark should take advantage of his opportunity because most players never make it as far as he has and the NFL journey can be a long road.
