2012 NFL Mock Draft: New York Giants Should Trade Up for David DeCastro
The New York Giants have a few needs this offseason, and they can make huge strides to fixing one by trading up for Stanford’s David DeCastro.
The NFL combine is this weekend, meaning the biggest change in a player’s stock is likely going to happen over the next three days. One thing that remains constant is that guard prospect David DeCastro is the best guard prospect to come out in a long time.
Guard is typically not a position drafted in the first round, but this is a can’t miss pick. Unfortunately for the Giants, they are not in a position to draft him at No. 32.
Unless something drastic changes over the next two months, he is no worse than a top 20 selection. No matter, the Giants have a trade piece that many teams covet—Osi Umenyiora.
You get a team like the Seahawks, Cardinals, or Jets—teams that need a pass rusher—and maybe they’ll listen to a trade offer. Osi and a first round pick is a pretty good deal for a pick in the teens.
Make it happen Jerry Reese.

Agreed the run game so bad due to the O-line. Its the last pick any way trade him and the first rounder and get the guy you want and need. Or a ILB but I would like to keep Eli safe while still helping the run game. The best pass rushers and in the NFC East so the O-line is important.
