Mario Manningham Expects to Sign with Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The New York Giants have many decisions to make in free agency, but Mario Manningham is expected to make one of those decisions for them.
Both he and Jerry Reese believe he will be with another team in 2012, and that team is most likely going to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
According to CBS Sports’ Clark Judge, there are a couple reasons why Manningham would choose to re-sign, other than the fact that Tampa Bay has a ton of cap space and can give him big bucks. For one, former Giants QB coach Mike Sullivan is their offensive coordinator, so there will be familiarity in the offense. Second, sources close to Manningham say he wants to play in a warm weather climate.
He says there is a “75 percent chance” he is leaving New York, and another reason is wanting the ball more, which is understandable with Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks each going over 1,100 yards last season.
I’ve been almost 95 percent sure all along that Manningham will not be back. The Giants do not have enough cap space to sign him AND take care of all the other free agents they would like to bring back.
Unless something drastic is done dollars wise, Manningham is out the door.
