With the 63rd Pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, The New York Giants Select Rueben Randle
The New York Giants have selected Rueben Randle with the 63rd overal pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Jerry Reese and company appear content bolstering their offense that took a hit in free agency with the losses of Brandon Jacobs and Mario Manningham.
The Giants are set with Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz, but Randle gives them the flexibility to move Cruz in to the slot where he was so successful last year.
Randle is a big, fast receiver who was limited in college mainly because of the offense LSU runs. They are a run dominated offense, which is another reason the Giants like Randle. He has the skills to be a good No. 2 in the NFL, but also spent most of his time blocking and perfecting that craft.
Apparently Reese had a first round grade on Randle, meaning there was no way he was making it to round three.
In fact, Mike Garafolo tweeted that Marc Ross, director of college scouting, said the Giants actually considered taking Randle at No. 32. Thankfully he fell all the way to them at 63.
Don’t read much in to Randle’s fall in the second round. These things tend to happen as many players are reached for. There were multiple players who I had graded as third rounders that were taken. Randle is ready to go right now, and should contribute from day one.
