What other moves can the New York Giants make?
With the NFL draft over, and the draft picks starting to be signed, the second stage of free agency has begun. Teams will look to bring in players to help as backups or maybe bring in that veteran player that’s looking for one more shot at NFL glory. The New York Giants have two different spots where they might look to add some of those kind of players; offensive line and safety.
The Giants could probably use another veteran offensive lineman to help give some depth. The Giants brought in Jamaal Jackson but he decided to retire. I think a good option if he comes cheaply would be Vernon Carey. Carey can play either guard or tackle and he knows how to play. He’s fought off injuries over the past few seasons, but he could be a nice veteran option coming off of the bench. I don’t think they will bring back Kareem McKenzie. I don’t believe the Giants would go down that road again and they probably feel that he doesn’t have much left to give.
Safety is another area the Giants may look to add someone. The Giants added two undrafted free agents at that position but I feel like Deon Grant will find his way back to the Giants. Grant has done a great job in the past few years as the third safety. Grant knows the system and is a great veteran presence in the back end. The only other player I could see them going after is maybe OJ Atogwe.
