Justin Tuck to New York Giants Critics: They are “Sore Losers”
The New York Giants have had their fair share of critics this offseason despite winning Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots. Despite running through the top two seeds in the NFC and the top AFC seed, still people think the Giants did not earn their title. They say the Giants got lucky.
Really?
Yes, the Giants did face an uncharacteristically turnover happy Green Bay Packers team and won the NFC Championship with a turnover off a punt return, but they played the cards they were dealt and took advantage of those opportunities. That’s what champions do.
After Clay Matthews said the Packers gave the Giants the win in the playoffs, Donte Whitner said essentially the same this past Friday. He said the San Francisco 49ers gave away the NFC Championship, implying the Giants did not earn it.
Well, Giants defensive captain Justin Tuck had an answer for the team’s critics.
“There’s some sore losers in the world.”
Indeed. I understand the hurt getting that far and losing causes, but even if you feel that way be a man and admit you got beat by a better team. It doesn’t help you or make you look good by whining to the media. Just take the loss and live to fight another day.
“I’m not the type of guy to make excuses about a loss or a win.” Tuck added. “Regardless. The better team won. You played better that day, that’s why it’s a game. That’s why we have the slogan: ‘Talk is cheap, play the game.’ It don’t really matter what we say, it’s about what we do on the football field.”
