New York Knicks win 5th straight; Lin scores 20 again.
The New York Knicks have suddenly found their stride with newly appointed point guard Jeremy Lin, winning five straight games to put their record at 13-15. With this recent surge, the New York Knicks have moved into the 8th and last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
With the Knicks down 3 with under a minute left, Nick Novak continued his hot shooting, making a 3 to tie the game up at 98. A couple costly Timberwolves turnovers later, Lin hits 1 of 2 free throws to put the Knicks up for good. Jeremy Lin has his fifth straight game of 20 or more points, but he wasn’t the only Knick playing tonight. Landry Fields had 19, Iman Shumpert with 20, and Tyson Chandler with 12. On the Timberwolves side, Kevin Love had 32 points and 21 boards, with Nikola Pekovich adding 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Ricky Rubio with 12 points. This was an anticipated matchup with the blooming stardoms of young phenoms Ricky Rubio and Jeremy Lin battling it out. Both were inconsistent, and both have had better games, but both teams did look very tired.
While this was another win for Jeremy Lin, the Knicks gave an all team effort. Without Lin, the team had looked lost, and might have lost this game, but with the new swagger than Lin provides, the Knicks were able to grind it out and tack on their fifth straight W. With their next game on Tuesday versus Toronto, the Knicks are looking to win a sixth straight game. The crazy thing here is that the Knicks have been winning without their two superstars Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemare. The question everyone wants answers to is how will the Knicks play with the two stars back? Will the chemistry still work? Will Lin be able to upkeep this kind of production? The Knicks will get Amare back on Tuesday, and the fans will have to wait a little longer for Carmelo Anthony. We’ll have to tune in on Tuesday for more Linsanity.
