Knicks season begins in Brooklyn

While the New York Knicks have added Raymond Felton, Jason Kidd, Ronnie Brewer and Marcus Camby, it’s the Brooklyn Nets who will have the spotlight on opening night.
On Thursday November 1, the Nets will show off their new arena, the Barclays Center when they take on the Knicks at 7pm and the game will also be televised on TNT. The Nets have also created the “Core Four” after finding a way to acquire Joe Johnson and resign Deron Williams, Gerald Wallace and Brook Lopez.
The Knicks still have their big three in Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler which apparently makes them one of the most attractive teams to watch this season. They will play 25 games this season on national television, including ten on ESPN and five on ABC.
Following the debut of the Barclays Center, the Knicks will return home to face this past season’s champions, the Miami Heat. It will be a rematch of the Knicks’ five-game series loss in the first round.
Another team to watch out for will be the Houston Rockets now that Jeremy Lin is officially a member of their team. The Knicks will play in Houston on November 23 and will face them at home on December 17.
It should be interesting to see how the Knicks’ fan base treats Lin. It was his decision to sign the three-year $25.1 million contract offer with the Rockets.
The Knicks will also face the Los Angeles Lakers on the road on Christmas Day which is December 25. This game is interesting because the Lakers just signed Steve Nash, a player whom the Knicks coveted to replace Jeremy Lin.
Other games that are noteworthy are February 13 when Landry Fields comes back to Madison Square Garden with the Toronto Raptors, March 13 when Carmelo Anthony returns to face his former team, the Denver Nuggets and March 14 when Raymond Felton returns to face the Portland Trailblazers. Felton struggled in Portland last season and as a result saw little interest in free agency, settling for a three-year, $10 million deal with the Knicks.
The Knicks are back to their regular 82-game season and will have 18 back-to-backs. They’ll open their first four games of the season in five days and will play eight of their first nine games against teams that made the playoffs last season.
