The New York Rangers Make A Statement With A Win In Boston
The New York Rangers have been playing great hockey pretty much all year. They were in a dogfight though at the top of the division and the top of the Eastern Conference. They have come out flying since the All Star Break though and put some distances between themselves, the Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers. The Rangers defeated the Boston Bruins in Boston tonight by the score of 3-0. They are now nine points ahead of Boston for first in the conference. That is a strangle hold on the top spot, even when they start to lose a little it doesn’t last long. The Rangers have had a great season and they do well with adversity. They have amazing focus and drive and always have their eyes on the prize.
I think the coaching staff as well as the players deserve a ton of credit. It really is amazing to watch the Rangers play right now. You never feel that they are going to lose or going to have a bad game. If they do have a rare off night you feel they will bounce right back in their next game. The Rangers look like they will be the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. There will be pressure with that position and of course being a New York team. The Rangers don’t seem to feel the pressure though and I think they can handle that position.
The Rangers are led by a great goalie who seems to be on a mission this season. The Rangers will go as far as he goes and right now I can see him winning the Vezina trophy as best goalie and leading them to a Stanley Cup. It would be quite amazing if they get on a run and go for a championship after New York just crowned the Giants as Super Bowl Champions. You really want to see the city going nuts then watch as the Rangers move forward, they haven’t won the Stanley Cup since 1994 and that year ended a 54 year drought. It has been a long time since 1994 and it may be about time for the Rangers to win another one.
This is the Rangers best chance at a Cup. They haven’t been this good in a long time and it doesn’t look like it is a mirage at all. The Rangers have toughness and drive. They have also seemed to solve their biggest weakness lately with the powerplay. They had anothe rpowerplay goal tonight. They had a long drought and then in the last two or three games they have scored a powerplay goal in each of them. Can the Rangers sustain this?? I don’t see why not, they keep getting put to the test with the Flyers and Bruins and they have been answering with flying colors. The Rangers will look for the number one seed but know that isn’t their ultimate goal. I don’t see any reason why this team can’t win the Stanley Cup. They could be the best in the Eastern Conference and have just as good of a shot as anyone else. We will see how this all plays out in the coming weeks.
