Yesterday afternoon I compared the upcoming Game 4 to the Game 4 matchup between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers back in 2006. If you remember, the New York Yankees had to send Jaret Wright to the hill to stave off elimination. Didn’t happen. I had serious doubts whether the New York Yankees would be able to avoid the same outcome with A.J. Burnett on the hill last night. Well, he did and now the New York Yankees can punch a ticket to the ALCS with one more win. This is why the games are played on the field and not in the minds of fans and “experts”. And as far as my “less-than-optimistic” outlook heading into the game….sometimes its nice to be wrong. A.J. Burnett did do a Jaret Wright impression when he took the hill for the New York Yankees last night. Thankfully he choose the 1997 version to emulate.
