Is Brian Cashman Guaranteed to Be Back With the New York Yankees?
In sports, we hear guarantees all the time. Players guarantee victories, MLB and NBA players receive guaranteed contracts, the Boston Red Sox were guaranteed a playoff spot and the Philadelphia Phillies were guaranteed a World Series berth by the media. Tired of guarantees? Oh well, I have one more for you. According to Joel Sherman – or someone “in the know” that Sherman spoke with – Brian Cashman and the New York Yankees are guaranteed to come to an agreement on a new contract. At this point it is only a matter of Brian Cashman flying to Tampa to meet up with New York Yankees brass face-to-face.
At the same time, Mark Feinsand reports that the two sides have not had any talks yet. Despite the conflicting tunes, it is generally expected that Cashman will sign a new deal with the Yanks sooner rather than later. I’ve already discussed how I feel about Brian Cashman, but it won’t hurt to reiterate that I’m looking forward to the two sides coming together on a deal. Whenever that may be.
