The New York Yankees’ Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson have been chosen as part of an “all-star” team that will head to Taiwan and face off in a series against the Chinese Taipei National team. Aside from Curtis Granderson, Robinson Cano and Miguel Cabrera, there aren’t many – if any – true all-stars on the squad. For example, a lot of average fans might not know who guys like Skip Shumaker, Ross Detwiler and Mark Melancon are, but each is an all-star in this sense. It’s not as if these games matter or that the competition over there will be terribly stiff so MLB doesn’t really need to send over a roster littered with studs from top to bottom. There isn’t much else to say about this in terms of the New York Yankees’ concern, but I imagine it will be an enjoyable time for Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano as MLB continues to expand their brand.
