In an article on MLB.com, New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi touched on several subjects regarding the team’s offense.  Primarily he mentioned the importance of the New York Yankees adding one more bat to the lineup.  This is something that fans have been discussing non-stop ever since “The Trade” went down.  I definitely want a bigger and better bat than the Johnny Damons of the world, but it is quite possible that we’ll be stuck with someone like that handling a significant portion of the New York Yankees’ DH duties in 2012.  As Girardi notes, a left-handed bat would be ideal considering the friendly confines in right-field.  However, he does not think that the club will limit their search to left-handed bats.  In addition to Damon, Raul Ibanez and Vladimir Guerrero are two names that have been tossed around as potential options for the New York Yankees. Word is there remains $2 million in the budget for the DH spot.  That does not leave them with much money to spend, but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that they come up a satisfactory replacement for Jesus Montero.
