You can’t go by the preseason. I’ve said that since the meaningless contests started in early August. After the Cowboys “lost” to the Raiders in the second exhibition, I wrote an article telling the Dallas faithful to relax and not get flustered over those pointless games. Team owner Jerry Jones should know better than anyone and he will tell you that the exhibitions are not only pointless, but can actually be deceiving. When Jones bought the franchise in 1989, the Cowboys went 3-1 in the preseason, losing only the Broncos in a game where John Elway played the entire contest, including overtime.
