After the devastating injury to Jonathan Casillas, the Saints signed a familiar face to help shore up their linebacking corps for the start of the regular season. Veteran linebacker Danny Clark, who was one of the last cuts from the Houston Texans final roster, has signed a deal for the Saints. Although he is not expected to start right away, he will provide a veteran presence to a relatively young linebacking unit, especially the backups at the position. Clark, who is an 11-year veteran, played with the Saints in 2006 as a backup. Although Sean Payton was the coach of the Saints team, there is a different defensive system in place, as Gary Gibbs was the team’s defensive coordinator that season.
