With Randy Moss out, should the Patriots try to acquire Steve Smith from the Panthers?

Now that Randy Moss is officially a member of the Minnesota Vikings again following this morning’s trade, one can’t help but wonder if the New England Patriots will make a move to bring in another wide receiver. Wes Welker has put up better numbers than most No. 1 wide receivers over the past three benefits, but the argument can be made most of his production came from opposing defenders double-teaming Moss. The same can be said about the rest of the players on the Patriots’ offense. By losing Moss, New England loses arguably one of the best deep threats to ever step foot on the football field. As long as Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are around, this team would always be a strong contender in the AFC—no matter what weapons they have. Still, that doesn’t mean the Patriots shouldn’t...
