Report: Chargers agree to five-year extension with Marcus McNeill

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the San Diego Chargers and offensive lineman Marcus McNeill have agreed to a five-year extension. The deal will keep him around through 2015.

After holding out all of training camp and preseason, McNeill accepted a one-year tender for $630,000 last month, but wasn’t eligible to return to the field until October 17. Now, the Pro Bowl lineman can play Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams with a smile on his face now that he has finally received the long-term deal he’s desired.

McNeill was selected by the Chargers in the second round of the 2006 and has been a key part to the offensive line over the last three years. With this deal completed, it should be interesting to see if any progress is made with Vincent Jackson soon.
