Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford confirmed on Tuesday that he will be returning to the Lions lineup as the starting quarterback when the Detroit Lions host the Washington Redskins October 31. Stafford’s return to the lineup couldn’t come at a better time for the Lions. Shaun Hill, who had been the replacement for Stafford suffered a broken arm in last week’s game.
Hill had been a solid replacement for the injured Stafford. Hill led the Detroit Lions offense to 146 points in replacement duty, the second most points scored by a NFC team.
Speaking to the NFL Network yesterday Stafford said,
“My shoulder’s getting better. I’ve been doing a lot of rehab and throwing a little bit,” he said. “And hopefully this week I’ll practice with the guys every day and then move that right on to next week and be ready for the game against the Redskins, hopefully. …
“The pain’s going away, and my range of motion and strength is coming all back. That’s what we’ve been looking for from the beginning, and now that’s coming back to me, hopefully I can get back out there and play on Sundays.”
