According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre is expected to start on Sunday against the New England Patriots—which means his streak of consecutive games started may not be in jeopardy after all.
By starting Sunday, Favre would extend his streak to 292 straight games (NFL record). Reports indicated earlier this week how the future Hall of Fame quarterback broke two bones in his ankle following a loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 7, but he was able to practice a little bit on Friday. Apparently, Favre told Werder in a phone conversation as he was leaving for Boston that he “wouldn’t have made the trip unless he expected to start.”
Favre is coming off a disastrous 28-24 loss to the Packers—a game in which he threw three interceptions. The 2-4 Vikings look to stay in the NFC North hunt with a key game against the 5-1 Patriots in Foxboro.
