Peyton Manning Makes it Very Clear: “It Is What It Is”

Kirby Lee-US Presswire

At the start of NFL training camp, there were always two names mentioned in all media stories, ESPN updates and water cooler talk.  It just so happens that both of the names represented Denver Broncos quarterbacks, past and present.  The first was above all, Tim Tebow and the circus he left Denver with and brought to the New York Jets.  The second was all about the Broncos new(old) quarterback, future first ballot Hall of Famer, Peyton Manning.

Both have been dissected and theorized ad nauseam about their ability to play the position, Tebow with his deficient throwing ability, and Manning about his arm strength and inability to go deep with consistency after missing all of 2011 with four neck surgeries.  I have said it the past three years and I will repeat it for any who have missed my thoughts.  Tebow will never make it as a starting NFL QB and should seriously consider changing to play TE as he would be a perfect model for that position.  Okay, Tebow lovers, you can call me an atheist and the anti-christ now.

Manning’s arm strength will never be what it was ten years ago, for all who have another opinion.  Manning has made it very clear to all who are listening, though, by simply proclaiming, “It is what it is.”  There is one ability that Manning has that only about one or two others in the league have embedded within, however.  The mental capacity and stream of consciousness to overcome any strength deficiencies with simply making smarter decisions on the field.

Manning will never come out and proclaim that his arm is at 100% or even 80%, but he will try to get the media and pundits off his back by giving simple, concise answers that will just keep you guessing more.  The difference between Tebow and Manning is basically that Peyton knows how to play the position, while Tebow uses smoke and mirrors theatrics to make it seem as if a team can win in the long run with him under center.  So yes, Broncos fans, you should be thrilled to have a Manning behind your line, even if he is not a 100%.  The stats over the first two games do not lie, and I get the fact that Manning has 3INTs.  Get over it.  Manning will not allow that to happen again.  I assure you of that prophecy.

Peyton Manning’s stat line: 43-63, 494yds, 68.3%Comp, 3TDs, 3INTs, 87.7Rating
