Oakland Raiders need to get Running

The Oakland Raiders have already been having a tough time winning games, but what is even more depressing for the team is that they are about half-way though the NFL season, and they are 31st in rushing yards per game.

They rush an average 77 yards per game. The Raiders can not run the ball at all, and it has been that way the entire year. Darren McFadden, the Raider’s leading rusher, has two touchdowns the whole year. One was a goal-line push, and the other was a 64 yard break away.

McFadden has shown when he can get over 100 yards rushing, that it puts the team in better position to win games. When you think about it, as the month come to a close, McFadden has been in the end zone once…the whole month.

If you fail, try, and try again. The Raiders have been getting too far down into games to the point that they have no other option but to pass. The score has the biggest influence as far as play calling, and last week was the perfect example.

When you go down by 20 points in the first half, obviously it is going to affect a teams decision to run the ball, especially when time is of the essence. Which means McFadden and the rest of the running game need to bite down and run hard early, because they may not get the second chance to show what they are made of in the second half.

So when running, run hard.
