Chris Kluwe has earned the reputation of being by far the most outspoken punter in the NFL and after some of the things he’s said over the last year, he may just be the most outspoken player overall.
Many players across the league aren’t afraid to voice their opinions when it comes to league fines and suspensions, but few are as open about issues as big as gay marriage.
Kluwe is a supporter of gay marriage, even going as far to challenge a Minnesota politician to a debate on the issue. Kluwe’s arguments on any topic are always sound and well thought out. He’s not just another professional athlete using his platform to say whatever he wants.
Recently, Kluwe appeared on the Colbert Report on Comedy Central to discuss his stance on gay marriage with Stephen Colbert. Now while I’m not a fan of the show, I did tune in to check out the Minnesota Vikings punter. Kluwe did very well on the show, even getting the audience to give an extended round of applause after he finished one of his statements.
His view of “people are people” is very simple as Kluwe feels that everyone should be treated equally and he says he will continue to use his voice to fight for equality.
In other Kluwe news, he will be undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee soon, but the recovery time is usually only a few weeks. Obviously, this shouldn’t have a negative impact on his 2013 campaign, and if anything it should help it.
Kluwe is currently signed with the Vikings through the upcoming season. Follow him on Twitter @ChrisWarcraft for all sorts of hilarity.
