The beginning of the National Football League playoffs has shown a very alarming trend to me. I have noticed that every field is a complete mess even before the game starts. It may be time to think about going to exclusively field turf so each team has a chance to run their offense effectively on every play instead of a lot of slipping and sliding.
I understand that it is the end of the season and these fields have taken a lot of punishment during the regular season but the excess events that go on at these stadiums really need to stop. If I had a field that was natural grass, the only thing I would be playing on it is football and not having concerts or any other activity during the weeks when the team wasn’t at home. If you want to have a stadium where other events can happen, then it has to be a requirement to have a field turf surface.
I would love all games on grass, I really would but I’m not enjoying watching fields that shouldn’t have any issues when the weather is fine having dirt coming up on them. Something has to change with the fields and how they look on television. There are just too many injury risks out there with holes in the turf and dirt flying everywhere with rock-hard ground this time of year. There is a time for changes to happen and this would be a perfect time to do some of these things. Let’s fix this before another major player gets seriously hurt.
