The NFL will get their ace in the hole. Well, South Carolina wide receiver Ace Sanders that is.
The Gamecock fan-favorite made a shocking decision by choosing to forgo his senior year, and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.
This will shake up the wide receiver pool in the draft, because Sanders could be a show-stopper at the NFL Combine. He is one of the biggest surprises to enter the draft, and it will be interesting to see how teams scout him and determine whether or not he should have waited a year.
Why would he?
He is a very talented football player, and has shown that he can contribute beyond the wide-out position. Sanders may be the best punt returner in college football, and now he can use his abilities to climb up the draft boards and really send a message out that he is one of the top receivers.
He did not have jaw-dropping numbers, with 45 receptions for 531 yards and 9 touchdowns. Plenty of scouts will question his size, standing at 5-8 and only weighing 175 pounds, but there are plenty of smaller receivers in the NFL today.
If anything, some small players play the biggest.
These “little guys” are elusive as they come, it is harder to tackle an ant than a spider (Not that you should try to tackle them, it’s just a comparison).
Expect Sanders to be a big time play-maker early on whoever drafts him, because he can be the next best returner, slot man, or even compete to play outside against the best corners the NFL has to offer.
