News out for the Philadelphia Eagles is they have landed their man, and it is University of Oregon Ducks‘ Chip Kelly. After what seemed like a merry-go-round as he seemed like Kelly was interested in the NFL but then went back to college in the thought that he just drove up his own value on a new contract back in Eugene.
With this hire, it makes quarterback Michael Vick‘s future in Philadelphia intriguing as this sped up offense, would be more than ideal for him. Kelly had a stellar 46-7 record and three Pac-12 titles at Oregon in four years including a trip to the BCS title game two years ago, though it was unsuccessful, he wasn’t deterred. Before he got to Oregon, Kelly was an offensive coordinator at the University of New Hampshire where he worked on this infamous offense.
Coach Kelly talked to the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns besides the Eagles for the NFL teams that talked to him. It is an interesting twist say to say the least within the NFC East. Kelly also brings questions in what kind of defensive scheme and who will be his coordinators and position coaches.
I think this was a good fit for both parties, however this could also bring wholesale changes to the Eagles’ players such as Jason Peters whom is coming off of two Achilles’ surgeries and the fact he is well over 320 lbs. as it’s unknown how well he will recover and if he could be able to keep up with this lighting fast offense.
