The last thing the San Francisco 49ers need before Sunday’s NFC Championship game against the Atlanta Falcons is any off-the-field distractions as they look to avoid falling just short of the Super Bowl for the second-straight season. With Sunday’s game just two days away, it appears the 49ers may have a small problem on their hands with wide receiver Michael Crabtree.
Apparently, Crabtree is being investigated for an alleged sexual assault incident that took place last Sunday at a hotel in San Francisco–just one day after the team’s big win over the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round. While the details of the incident are still slim, it should be interesting to see if this incident has an impact on his performance during Sunday’s game against the Falcons.
Crabtree is coming off a solid performance against the Packers last weekend in which he caught nine passes for 119 yards to go along with two touchdowns and will be a key factor for whether or not this team can advance to the Super Bowl. For a team usually known for their defenses, San Francisco’s offense has taken their game to a whole new level over the last couple of weeks and Crabtree is one of the main reasons why.
If his head isn’t in the game 100 percent on Sunday–the 49ers could be in trouble against a Falcons’ team that tends to play well in the Georgia Dome with Matt Ryan under center.
