There were high expectations for Cedric Benson last season as a member of the Green Bay Packers, but his season was cut short afte five games after suffering a foot injury. Now, Benson appears to be close to reaching 100 percent and one of the top Green Bay Packers rumors involves how there may be interest between the two sides–which is an interesting move at this point in the offseason.
It’s no secret the Packers could use a solid running back for the 2013 season as it’s been a while since they’ve had a consistent starter in the backfield, but there’s no telling what to expect from Benson next year since he’s coming off such a serious injury. Plus, if Green Bay really wanted to consider adding a running back, the 2013 NFL Draft is less than 48 hours away–so they could always choose from a handful of rookies as well.
Benson has proven to be effective when healthy at times throughout his career, but it’s difficult not to wonder whether or not this is the right approach for the Packers. Even if they do need to add another running back–the argument can be made there are plenty of better options other than Benson.
Nothing is set in stone at the moment when it comes to Benson and the Packers, but it will certainly be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of days when it comes to these two sides possibly reaching a deal.
