Two days from now, The New York Jets will be in a hustle and bustle to make sure they do not screw up what is now considered their rebuilding start. With the possession of two top 15-draft picks in this year’s NFL draft, the Jets have the opportunity to start off really well, or really badly.
The Jets own the ninth overall pick and the 13th overall pick, and can fill so many holes on both sides of the ball. They have many routes they could go with, especially now that they have two first-round picks.
But whatever they decide to do, it better workout well.
It is basically known that the Jets have a clean slate and are set to rebuild the franchise, as evident through the switch at GM, the firing Mike Tannenbaum and hiring John Idzik. Also, the trading of Darrelle Revis, the Jets’ best player, is also an indication that they are starting fresh and relinquishing some outstanding debt/contracts that they have had to battle with.
The willingness losing key playmakers like LaRon Landry, Dustin Keller, Shonn Greene, and Mike Devito are all final hints that this is all about rebuilding, bringing in some potential talent from the draft and starting anew.
The Jets have the perfect opportunity to do this in the draft. With the addition of a first-round pick and a third-round pick, they have the ability to go out and get some fresh talent in one of the deepest drafts the NFL has seen in years.
It all starts on April 26, draft day, and Idzik, Rex Ryan and the Jets must get off on the right foot.
