Earlier this week, there was talk about the Buffalo Bills expressing interest in Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib in the 2013 NFL Draft considering there’s a good chance they’ll draft a quarterback since Kevin Kolb only seems to be the short-term solution. Now, it appears the Bills may be focusing their attention on a different quarterback than Nassib–USC‘s Matt Barkley.
With the No. 8 pick, there’a good chance Buffalo will find themselves in the position to select Barkley with their first round pick and if he’s available–they should strongly consider drafting him. Despite what happened with the Trojans last year, there’s no question Barkley has plenty of potential when it comes to playing in the NFL and the argument can be made that he would have been one of the top picks last year if he didn’t return for his senior season.
In other words–Barkley may be the most NFL-ready quarterback from this year’s class.
Barkley’s numbers alone over the last two seasons (nearly 7,000 passing yards and 75 touchdowns) are enough proof that he’s worth the risk in this year’s draft and the Bills have been looking for a franchise quarterback for quite some time. The potential is certainly there for Barkley when it comes to the NFL and it would be wise for Buffalo to consider him over Nassib if available in this year’s draft.
The draft is officially less than 24 hours away–so it will be interesting to see which direction the Bills go once they’re on the clock at No. 8.
