The 2013 NFL Draft is just hours away and with the No. 9 and No. 13 pick in the first round–there’s no telling what to expect from the New York Jets as they head into Thursday night with a few different areas in need of improvement. One of the names that has been linked to the Jets over the last couple of weeks has been Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner–especially after last week’s trade that sent Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Obviously, it will be extremely difficult for the Jets to replace a cornerback as talented as Revis, but that doesn’t mean they can’t at least try and with the amount of potential shown by Milliner–he certainly would be worth the risk in the first round if he were still available at No. 9. Even if he has undergone five surgeries, there’s a reason why Milliner is arguably considered the top cornerback from this year’s draft class and with the void left on New York’s defense–it would seem like Milliner would be a no brainer at No. 9 if available.
Only time will tell when it comes to whether or not this team will be going through a rebuilding period during the 2013 season after all of the moves made during the offseason, but they have an advantage over other teams heading into the draft as they have two picks in the first round thanks to the Revis trade. Milliner proved at Alabama he’s worthy of being selected early on in the first round–so it will be interesting to see if the Jets have any chance of landing the star cornerback on Thursday.
