Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Might This Star Fall to Cowboys?

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL Draft has long been a guessing game for those on the outside looking in. Anyone who follows a team can see what their favorite team’s needs are but that doesn’t necessarily mean much. You could look at mock drafts for days and see a player connected to a team only to find they had no real interest on draft day, so it’s very difficult to really know much.

Every year in the draft, some player falls in the draft and that will be no different in the 2013 NFL Draft. In fact, one of the names of a falling player would be music to the Dallas Cowboys ears, defensive tackle Star Lotulelei. According to NFL Network’s draft guru Mike Mayock, there is a possibility it could happen. In Mayock’s latest mock draft, he has the Cowboys selecting Lotulelei with their first round pick.

With every mock draft comes something new and this is the first time I have seen Star’s name attached to the Cowboys and it would be a home run for Dallas. They need an infusion of youth and talent along their defensive line and Lotulelei would certainly bring those attributes to Dallas. He’s the best defensive tackle prospect in the draft because his strength, speed and athleticism is impressive for a man his size. He was once thought of as the top player in the draft but a medical scare has caused his stock to slip. Lotulelei’s health has since been cleared and he remains one of the top players in the 2013 NFL Draft.

I have long said we should take mock drafts with a grain of salt but this is a scenario that would have Cowboys fans dancing in the streets if it came true. If Star Lotlulelei is available at pick number 18 in the draft tonight, the Dallas Cowboys will have gotten themselves a steal.
