After the Baltimore Ravens made Joe Flacco the highest-paid quarterback, it seemed like only a matter of time before the Green Bay Packers rewarded Aaron Rodgers with a new quarterback with a deal that would in fact make him the highest-paid quarterback. Now, it looks like it has become official as the two sides have reached an agreement to make Rodgers the highest paid player in NFL history.

Aaron Rodgers new contract: 5 years, $110M. That’s $22M per. $40M in the first year (wow). Over $62M in the first three years.

When looking at everything he’s accomplished throughout his career, this deal should come as no surprise to anyone as Rodgers has already made a strong case for himself to become a future Hall of Fame quarterback. Not only did Rodgers lead Green Bay to a Super Bowl victory back in 2010, but the quarterback has thrown for 8,938 yards and 84 touchdowns over the last two seasons alone–which is impressive for any quarterback.
Once again, the Packers should enter the 2013 season as one of the favorites in the NFC as Rodgers hopes to lead the high-powered offense to another division title for the third-straight season. And as long as he remains healthy, don’t be surprised if Rodgers finds himself in the talks for MVP again for the 2013 season–but there’s still plenty of time before that can even become a discussion. For now, Rodgers needs to just enjoy the moment of making NFL history by becoming the highest-paid player.
