After selecting West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, there will be plenty of questions to be answered for the New York Jets over the next couple of months when it comes to the quarterback position. At this point, the starting job seems like Mark Sanchez‘s to lose, but one of the top New York Jets rumors involves the team possibly parting ways with Tim Tebow.
Apparently, all signs point to the Jets parting ways with Tebow soon and when looking closer at the situation–it shouldn’t come as a surprise. By now, New York realizes that acquiring Tebow prior to the 2012 season was a mistake and considering they were shopping him to other teams at the NFL Combine proves this was something that is overdue.
Plus, throw Smith into the mix and it seems even more clear that Tebow could be on his way out.
Even though Sanchez has seen his name involved in rumors when it comes to a possible release, parting ways with Tebow seems like the more likely option at this point. If there’s anything to take away from the 2013 season, it’s Tebow doesn’t have the mechanics to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
The Jets already have an interesting situation at quarterback between Sanchez and Smith–so parting ways with Tebow may be the best option for the team at this point so they don’t bring even more drama to the table.
