There are plenty of rookies to keep an eye on for the 2013 NFL season, but one of the more interesting ones will be Denard Robinson of the Jacksonville Jaguars. After selecting him in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Jaguars have officially signed Denard to his rookie contract as they’ll look to use him as just about everything other than quarterback.
Of course, the main factor on the back of everyone’s mind–will Robinson be able to make an impact as a rookie?
Despite playing quarterback at Michigan, Robinson knew his best chance of any team in the NFL giving him a shot would come down to what he could bring to the table at other positions. While his arm may not have been the most impressive thing in the world, if there was anything to take away from Robinson’s time with the Wolverines, it would be his speed–which is what the Jaguars hope to take advantage of during the 2013 season.
Some of the plays Robinson pulled off in college were amazing as he had an advantage compared to most quarterbacks when it came to using his legs and it will certainly be interesting to see whether or not he can make an impact in Jacksonville’s offense as a rookie. The potential is certainly there for Robinson–so let’s hope this gamble of selecting the former Michigan star in the fifth round pays off for the Jaguars during the 2013 season.
