Here is another franchise with a quarterback controversy. The Buffalo Bills turned some heads by selecting EJ Manuel from Florida State 16th overall in this year’s Draft. He shows great mobility and height standing at 6-foot-5 but has some question marks in regards to decision making. Kevin Kolb demonstrated some talent last year with the Arizona Cardinals, but he doesn’t inspire much confidence as primary starter.
Last year, New York almost pulled off a disastrous Week 15 victory against the Tennessee Titans. Sanchez, of course, suffered a meltdown as his team was eliminated from playoff contention. Tennessee brings their own set of questions into 2013. Jake Locker remains a big question mark as he must prove he can be a consistent passer. The Titans also finished 27th overall in yards per game allowed, which could help New York's struggling offense.
Running and defense has long been a trademark for the Pittsburg Steelers but this now looks to change as Ben Roethlisberger assumes more offensive responsibility. Losing players like linebacker James Harrison could also hurt from a leadership standpoint. I look for Gang Green and Pittsburgh to compete in a low-scoring game.
Struggles have been common for the Oakland Raiders for over a decade. Yet, another unstable situation is visible at quarterback. Receivers such as Denarius Moore and Jacoby Ford bring speed, but lack any true threat. Previewing this game presents an even matchup of teams without significant expectations.
Brandon Weeden tries to hang on to his starting quarterback job. He performed pretty well in the Cleveland Browns’ Preseason debut. Josh Gordon and Greg Little offer potential at receiver. As a result of these two combined with running back Trent Richardson, Cleveland might be decent on offense. Defensive questions give New York hope to win in front of their home crowd.
